Why the Deep?

As you may be aware, Matthew and I are getting married in an aquarium. Hey, hopefully you'll even be there. Right now, we are planning to have both the ceremony and the reception at the Deep. Marriage, dancing, eating, drinking, cake, vows, bouquet toss, everything... With the fishes.

But why the Deep? Well, the first successful* date Matthew and I ever went on was to The Deep, in Hull, UK. It was a glorious few hour long event, complete with sharks and romantic kisses and an exhibit on snails. I fell in love, and we went back, and back, and back, every time I visited the UK. We fell in love.

Before we were engaged, before we even knew we wanted to be married (this soon), Matt promised me we could have a ceremony at the Deep. We didn't know if it would really be possible, but much to my great joy, we could not have asked for a more helpful and amazing place to be weddinged. Located IN HULL right on the river Humber, it is walking distance from a handful of hotels and most things you could want to see in Hull. Don't worry about getting hotel rooms, though, we'll be working out an (almost certainly reduced fee) block of rooms for the wedding weekend.

If you're interested, please be sure to check out the Deep's website. Their Flickr photoset might be of interest too. To watch terrible narrated videos of a few tanks, shameful clips can be found both here and here.

*Other dates up to that point had been less successful, what with hours of being lost in York, cancelled reservations, terrible food, sudden illnesses and closed restaurants.
